How to get your files
These documents are stored in Google Docs, so you always have the most up-to-date version. You have two options, depending on how you want to use them.
Option A -- Download to your computer. Open the document, then go to File >> Download and choose your preferred format: Microsoft Word (.docx), PDF, or plain text. The file saves to your downloads folder.
Option B -- Save a copy to your Google Drive. Open the document, then go to File >> Make a copy. This creates your own editable version in your Google Drive. You can rename it and edit it freely -- changes you make will not affect the original.
Tip: If the link takes you straight to a "Make a copy?" prompt, just click the blue button. Your copy will be ready instantly.
If you see a message saying you need permission to edit -- you do not need it. Use Option A or Option B above instead.
What to do first
Start with the Funding Readiness Assessment—not the documentation templates. Before you invest time building your pitch deck or investor materials, you need an honest view of where your application currently stands across the five dimensions UK funders evaluate: Team Strength, Market Opportunity, Product and Traction, Financial Health, and IP and Defensibility.
If you have not already completed the interactive version, you can take it here:
Take the free Funding Readiness Assessment
The assessment output tells you which sections of the toolkit to prioritise. Most founders find one or two dimensions that need significant work before they are ready to approach funders -- and it is far better to know that now than to find out halfway through a round.

What the toolkit cannot do for you
The toolkit provides frameworks, templates, and a preparation structure. What changes the outcome is the experience behind the application -- knowing which specific aspects of your pitch Barclays scrutinises differently from an angel investor, understanding how to present financial projections that are credible rather than aspirational, and knowing when to approach funders and in what order.
We have secured over £250M for UK businesses with a 90% funding success rate. That track record is not the result of better templates -- it is the result of knowing exactly what each type of funder needs to see, and building documentation that addresses those specific requirements rather than generic investor criteria.
If you are planning to approach funders in the next three to six months, a 30-minute conversation now is likely to save you months of rejection and revision later.
